Rehome PROGRAM
APPLY FOR Rehome SERVICING
One of Humane Indiana's main goals is to help pet owners work through the difficult decision that they can no longer keep their pet. Many phone calls to our shelter include those that want to surrender their pet to the shelter for rehoming. The Rehome program allows for pet owners to safely rehome their pet through a database to find families wanting to adopt pets in our area.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT Rehome
Rehome allows pets to go directly into their new home without the stress of being surrendered to the shelter.
Sample rehoming agreements/contracts are available on the Rehome website under the How It Works tab. Sample questions both for owners and potential adopters to ask of each other while discussing rehoming are available as well.
Please remember to follow guidelines and regulations regarding social distancing and sanitation when meeting in person to adopt or rehome a pet. Humane Indiana and Rehome recommend meeting in a public location using the buddy system for the safety of all parties involved.
Humane Indiana loosely monitors the location of pets listed for adoption to ensure that we are marketing pets within our community, but makes no guarantees to any animal’s health, temperament, or history. Humane Indiana encourages adopters to have their new pet evaluated by a veterinarian upon adoption.
