Press Release

Giving Gifts of Hope this Holiday Season

December 2022

NORTHWEST INDIANA… Humane Indiana launched its 2022 Home for the Holidays fundraiser in time for the upcoming holiday season. Humane Indiana is a non-profit organization that aims to lead the community in the humane treatment of all animals. The fundraiser will help the Shelter and Adoption Center, Estelle Marcus Clinic and Wildlife and Rehabilitation Center provide care and improve quality of life for homeless pets, wildlife and neighbors in need.

Humane Indiana helps over 25,000 animals and 50,000 people every year.

“As the holidays approach, I’ve been thinking about ‘home,’ what it means to each of us, and the animals in our care,” says Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO of Humane Indiana. “It’s important to remember that home is more than just a place. It’s a feeling of warmth, belonging, comfort and safety.”

“New to our organization, we are launching the Home for the Holidays gift catalog which contains opportunities to give gifts of hope to our community. With the help and support from these donations, we can make warm, loving homes a reality for all,” says Fitzpatrick. Humane Indiana Shelter and Adoption Center provides foster care and permanent homes for adoptable animals. The gifts in the catalog for the shelter, such as a donation to the crisis transportation program, will allow pet rescue and transportation during an emergency to keep pets with their families during difficult times. Gifts made to deliver care for a mother dog and her babies will help a foster caregiver welcome the mom and her litter into their home, allowing a safe, quiet space to heal and grow together before the pets are adopted into forever homes. The Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center rehabilitates thousands of orphaned or injured wildlife every year. Gifts made to the Wildlife Center will provide necessities like food, medication and veterinary care for injured and orphaned wildlife in hopes of releasing the animals back to nature. Through the fundraiser, other meaningful gifts given to the center will supply funding for educational programs and classroom experiences in underserved communities. Home for the Holidays gifts ensure Humane Indiana’s essential programs will continue to run. Through the fundraiser, donors may give on behalf of friends, family–and even pets who will receive a special holiday card, sent from the team at Humane Indiana telling about the gift made
