Event Program Schedule
9:30 AM – Talk: Avian Influenza
Learn about the impact of avian influenza on both wild and domestic bird populations, how it spreads, and what conservationists are doing to prevent outbreaks.
11:00 AM – Talk: Raptor Ecology & Niches
Discover the fascinating world of raptors and how different species coexist in shared habitats. This talk will explore the unique adaptations that allow birds of prey to thrive in diverse ecosystems.
1:00 PM – Kahoot Trivia (Theater)
Test your wildlife knowledge in a fun and interactive round of Kahoot trivia! Compete with others and learn surprising facts about animals and conservation.
2:00 PM – Talk: Helping Young Wildlife
Learn what to do when encountering young or injured wildlife. This talk will provide guidance on when intervention is needed, how to safely reunite animals with their families, and best practices for coexisting with nature. Demonstrative props will be used for an engaging experience.
Activity Stations (Ongoing Throughout the Event)
Owl Pellet Dissection – Get hands-on and examine real owl pellets to uncover the diet and hunting habits of these nocturnal predators.
Biomagnification Game – A fun and educational activity demonstrating how toxins move through the food chain.
Stamp Wood Ornaments – Create a unique souvenir while learning about tree conservation and wildlife habitats.
Rat Table: Raptors as Pest Control – Learn about the crucial role raptors play in controlling rodent populations and maintaining ecological balance.
Ornate Box Turtle Table – Discover the threats facing reptile species and why rehabilitation is vital for their survival.
Bird-Opoly – A nature-themed spin on Monopoly, where players navigate the challenges birds face in the wild.
Opossum Yoga (Time TBD) – Enjoy a relaxing yoga session while learning fascinating facts about opossums and their role in the ecosystem.
