Humane Indiana will join shelters across the country in a nationwide pet adoption drive hosted by NBC/Telemundo. Our goal is to help every sheltered pet find their forever home by offering support to adopting families. Thousands of pets will be adopted during Clear the Shelters!
While the world has changed, the need for homeless pets to find forever homes has not. This year, Humane Indiana’s Clear the Shelters will look a little different, to protect our staff, volunteers, and potential adopters, but we will strive for the same goal — to find loving homes for ALL our shelter pets.
HOW WILL CLEAR THE SHELTERS WORK
This year, instead of a one-day shelter adoption event, Humane Indiana will host adoption specials throughout the entire month of August.
STEPS FOR ADOPTING DURING CLEAR THE SHELTERS
Simply visit our list of adoptable pets, which is updated daily.
If you see a pet that interests you, contact our Adoptions team at 219.922.3811 ext. 203 or email adoptions@humaneindiana.org to schedule a meet-and-greet with the pet.
If you decide to adopt the pet after the meet and greet, adoption can be finalized same day. Meet-and-greets and adoptions are by appointment only, no walk-ins please.
PLEASE NOTE: Please know we cannot place pets on hold. Our goal is to help pets find forever homes as soon as possible, so that we can help more homeless pests.
FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OURS
We ask that everyone entering the shelter for meet-and-greets and adoptions kindly wear a face mask upon your visit to our shelter.
No children will be admitted into our shelter facility.
You will be greeted at our door with hand-sanitizer.
Our lobby and meet-and-greet areas will be sanitized between each appointment visit.
