Our Wildlife Education Programs are designed to promote wildlife awareness and respect for wildlife native to Indiana. We offer valuable information on how our communities can safely coexist with wildlife. We also host domestic pet programs to educate children on the responsibilities of pet ownership.
ANIMAL AMBASSADOR PROGRAMS
Our animal ambassador programs are created to educate the public about wildlife animals. They are open to the public and are family-friendly. Animal ambassadors have been rescued and great efforts have been made by our team to rehabilitate them. Our goal is always to release animals back to their natural environment once they are healthy, but our ambassadors were unable to meet the criteria and they won’t be able to survive in the wild. Fortunately for Humane Indiana programming, these ambassadors help us educate the public. All proceeds from programs benefit animals through our wildlife rehabilitation services.
DAILY ANIMAL AMBASSADOR MEET-AND-GREETS AND WILDLIFE TOURS
It’s not everyday you see a turkey vulture or snowy owl. Take the opportunity to learn more about our animal education ambassadors! Each day our team members offer two different chances to meet and learn about our permanent residents at the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center.
Enclosure Tours
Our new 45-minute tour includes one-on-one time with staff, as you walk around the education ambassador enclosure areas. You’ll discover the reason each ambassador is at the center, along with their likes and dislikes. Learn how the staff trains the ambassadors and what measures we take to maintain physically and mentally healthy animals.
Animal Ambassador Meet-and-Greets
During our informal 20-minute meet-and-greet, you will talk with Humane Indiana Wildlife staff and meet an animal education ambassador. Ambassadors are selected at random and change daily.
Programs are limited to 10-20 people, depending on program type.
