MY PET IS LOST

If you have lost your pet, please file a report with us, and we will contact you if a Good Samaritan brings your pet to our shelter. Also, please post your lost pet on local Lost/Found Facebook groups and on Petco Love Lost (see below).

I FOUND A LOST PET

A lost pet is stressful for both the pet and its owners. Below are a few tips to help you reunite a pet with its family.

  1. Make every effort to have the pet scanned for a microchip. If a pet is microchipped, it contains the pet owner’s contact information and will more easily be reunited with them. Animal controls, veterinarians, and shelters assist with scanning strays at no cost.
  2. Call local shelters and animal controls because pet owners will often file missing reports with them. List of local Animal Controls.
  3. Post on Lost/Found Facebook group pages and on Petco Love Lost (see below).

FACEBOOK LOST/FOUND GROUPS

We also recommend posting on local Facebook groups for lost & found pets (see below). The grassroots efforts of these groups are sometimes the most effective way to reunite pets with their owners. Local Facebook groups include:

AAHA UNIVERSAL PET MICROCHIP

The AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup site searches many of the leading pet microchip registries to aid in pet recovery. It will show the user which registries have microchip registrations for a particular microchip ID. Additionally, the Pet Microchip Lookup tool will attempt to determine the microchip distributor or microchip manufacturer if no microchip registration can be found. PET MICROCHIP LOOK UP
