Walk-it-Off Mini Camp

Kids, get out doors and walk-off that Thanksgiving feast! Join us for our mini-camp for kids ages 6-11.

Grab a friend and hit the trails with us. We’ll show you how to ID and look for animals when you’re outdoors, we have lots of hands-on activities and games, you’ll meet our wildlife ambassadors (including our Snowy Owl) and take a tour of the rehab center. Find out how our native wildlife is celebrating the holiday season and getting ready for winter too. Plus, it gives your parents a chance to shop for you for the holidays! Registration is required. Camp fee is $50 per day or attend both days for $75!

A snack will be provided mid-day, but please pack your own lunch.

Join us for pictures with Santa and his wildlife helpers. Guests are welcome to stop by between 12-3pm the first three Saturdays in December for cookies, holiday crafts, and photos. A $10 suggested donation gets you in to all the holiday fun. It all culminates on December 15th when we host Christmas carolers and roast chestnuts around the bonfire.

Winter Wildlife Camp

Children ages 6-11 are welcome to visit Humane Indiana’s Education Center for a three day camp about wildlife in winter. From making preparations in fall to hibernating during the coldest months in the year, our wildlife has to do some amazing things to survive in the great outdoors. Through interactive activities and lessons, campers will learn what it’s like to successfully survive the winter months. Campers will get a first-hand experience when they meet our native wildlife ambassadors, . Registration is required. Camp fee is $150.

On January 12th, Humane Indiana’s Owl ambassadors will be flying out to our Paws Resale Shop to spread the love.

Choose your time slot and meet our ambassador owls that call Humane Indiana Wildlife home. From the tiny Eastern Screech Owl to the fiercest night predator, the Great Horned Owl, these birds have some amazing adaptations to share. Aquatic Take-Back Day

Ready to flush your fish or release your turtle back into the wild? STOP! Releasing aquarium and water garden pets down a drain or into the wild can hurt them and the environment. If you can’t keep your aquatic pet, the Aquarium Fish Sanctuary with support from Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant & Illinois Natural History Survey and the Prairie Research Institute with funding from the Great lakes Restoration Initiative invite you to bring them to our aquatic pet take-back event at the Humane Indiana Wildlife Center in Valparaiso. Fish, aquatic reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and plants will be accepted. Space is limited!

Paws in the Park

Join Humane Indiana, family and friends for the 26th annual Paws in the Park event! A one-mile fundraising walk and vendor fair, Paws in the Park raises money needed to care for the animals of Humane Indiana. Free and open to the public, the event features family- and pet-friendly vendors, a Rainbow Bridge Memory Walk, plus food and entertainment for all! 

Want to do more? Register to be part of the walk or sponsor a walker! Each participant that walks receives a goody bag. Raise $100 or more to receive an event t-shirt! Register your team below, or visit our First Giving event page.

We'll be waiving adoption fees for some of our favorite long-time shelter residents who deserve a loving family and a fur-ever home.
