WILDLIFE MINI-DAY CAMP

Kids! Join us for a behind the scenes look at the day to day workings of Humane Indiana Wildlife. Campers will learn what it takes to intake and treat hundreds of wildlife each year. From intake to initial exams, determining treatment, making diets, and planning releases, there is much to be done to make our rehabilitation center and the animals within it successful. Join us on our journey through the rehabilitation process, let’s see where it takes us!

A snack will be provided mid-day, but please pack your own lunch.


OWL YOU NEED IS LOVE - VALPARAISO

Meet and greet Humane Indiana’s Owl ambassadors!

Join our education staff as we teach about the different species of owls that spend their winters in Northwest Indiana. You’ll get a chance to meet our ambassador owls that call Humane Indiana Wildlife home. From the tiny Eastern Screech Owl to the fiercest night predator, the Great Horned Owl, these birds have some amazing adaptations to share. Attendees will even get a chance to meet a winter arctic visitor, the Snowy Owl, who is now a permanent resident of Humane Indiana Wildlife. A suggested donation fee of $10 gets you in to all the fun!

Whether it’s the dexterity of the opossum feet, the incredible sense of smell of the skunk, or the ability of both of them to adapt to an urban environment, these amazing mammals are forces to be reckoned with. Join us as we learn about the unique adaptations of these two species and what roles they play in our environment. Which team are you on?

Kids, this President’s day, you might be skipping class but you don’t have to skip out on the fun! Join us for a behind the scenes look at the day to day workings of Humane Indiana. Campers will learn what it takes to find hundreds of animals new homes each year. From intake to initial exams, marketing, and finding the right adopters. There is much to be done to make our adoption shelter and the animals within it successful. Join us on our journey through the sheltering process, let’s see where it takes us!

Let’s talk hawks! Join us to meet one of our longest standing ambassadors, our female Red-tailed Hawk as well as one of our newest, our Rough-legged Hawk. During this program we will be learning about hawks that can be found in Indiana throughout the year, where to look for them, and how we can help protect these incredible predators. All ages welcome.

Kids, join us at Humane Indiana Wildlife for a one day camp celebrating our local birds of prey! From the majestic Bald Eagle to the agile Peregrine Falcon and stealthy Saw-whet Owl our birds of prey have the adaptations to make them both successful and fierce. We’ll take a look at what makes these animals so successful and find out why their numbers are suffering at the hands of people. How can we help these amazing birds? Join us to find out!
